It’s down to 24 as Limerick Greyhound Stadium gets ready for Leger quarter finals

Just 24 greyhounds remain in the race for the €60,000 Barking Buzz App Irish St Leger in Limerick as we enter quarter final weekend.

Four heats will ran on Saturday night’s card in Greenpark, with the first three from each progressing to next weekend’s semi finals.

Clonbrien Hero and Clonbrien Prince are among those to make it through the first two rounds, along with the much-followed Doggy McDogface, Lenson Blinder, Gurteen Feather and Cash Is King.

The St Leger is one of 14 ‘Classic’ races in the Irish greyhound calendar and one of two held in Limerick, along with the Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Stake.

Racing manager with Limerick Greyhound Stadium, Liam Kennedy, commented: “We’re approaching our third Leger weekend out of five now, so we’re getting down to the nitty gritty. The first two Saturdays saw some high quality, unpredictable racing here at Greenpark and we can’t see why this Saturday will be any different. What’s always been great about the Leger, and we’re seeing it again this year, is there is huge involvement on a local level here in Limerick for owners and trainers, with a great mix from others nationwide as well. ”

He continued: “The Leger is a Classic in every sense of the word and it looks as if 2018 will be no different. Excitement is really hitting fever pitch now at Greenpark, with owners, trainers, racing fans and our own staff really looking forward to quarter final night at Limerick Greyhound Stadium.”

The Irish St. Leger will continue each Saturday over the coming three weeks, with the Final on Saturday, November 3rd. The stadium restaurant and admission packages are available to book now for all stages of the competition, including the final.
