Thurles Sarsfields early showing proved to be too hot to handle, as the blues booked their place in a fourth County Intermediate final in five years after a comfortable victory over Shannon Rovers last Sunday.

The Sarsfields forward arsenal led by Richie Ruth and Seanie Butler did the real damage in the first period, going in at the break with a comfortable lead as the Shannon Rovers defence couldn’t get to grips with the pacey and skilful Thurles forwards – particularly Ruth, who went off injured just before the end of the half, but had made a significant contribution of 1-2 in his time on the field.

Shannon Rovers will be bitterly disappointed with their showing. They had all the hallmarks of a team that let the occasion get the better of them, simply not producing a level of performance that they had in previous matches – especially in the first half where they registered just three-points as they struggled to get to the pace of their opponents.
