Tuscany Bistro supports cancer awareness

Cancer has touched every family in every community. More people are being diagnosed with cancer every year, but more of us are also surviving and living with and beyond the disease.

Tuscany Bistro is helping to raise awareness and reduce stigma around cancer by holding special coffee mornings at their restaurants at Castletroy and The Granary in Limerick City and Ballina/Killaloe, this Friday, 28 September, as part of national Cancer Week.

The proceeds from every coffee sold at Tuscany Bistro on the day will go to the Irish Cancer Society.

"Losing someone special to cancer is the hardest experience anyone can go through. Any initiative to help kick this terrible disease to the kerb is worthwhile. This can only be done with everyone’s support," said Tuscany Director Sabrina Amodeo.

Cancer Week Ireland (24-30 September) aims to encourage the public to talk about cancer and how we can prevent it, spot it, treat it, and survive and thrive afterwards.

“Every 3 minutes in Ireland someone receives a cancer diagnosis. Incidence of cancer is growing and by 2020, 1 in 2 of us will receive a cancer diagnosis in our lifetime,” said Irish Cancer Society’s Midwest Community Fundraiser Lorraine Gallagher.

“The Irish Cancer Society is funding lifesaving research to improve methods of detection and treatment, providing information and support to those affected by cancer, and raising awareness of how cancer can be prevented.

“We are delighted to have the support of the Tuscany Bistro team in raising awareness about cancer.”
