Nenagh Toastmasters open night

Nenagh Toastmasters are holding an open night on Tuesday October 2nd at 8.15pm in the Abbey Court Hotel.

Toastmasters International has helped people in many areas of their life. A lot of people join Toastmasters with the idea of doing a best man speech, a presentation at work or improving their interview skills.

Toastmasters can help you with all of those things but Toastmasters can do so much more. Toastmasters can connect you to a wide variety of people socially that you might never have the opportunity to meet otherwise. You will get support and encouragement at a genuine level, which in turn builds your confidence and self-belief. Toastmasters International have introduced 'Pathways', which have 59 different projects for you to choose from.

Each project has five different levels for you to advance too. Come and see for yourself, or log on to www.toastmasters.org.

At the last meeting of Nenagh Toastmasters, Danny Doyle eased in with comfort as he opened the evening, introducing his team.

It seems so natural, one might say that he was born for his role of presidency. Toastmaster for the night Paul Butler relaxes everyone with his easy but efficient manner, ensuring the evening was a pleasure for all.
Natasha Gavilovska topics were thought provoking; it felt like Natasha was engaging with everyone on a personal level.

Stephen Cullinan challenged us to watch our grammar, encouraging us to broaden our vocabulary by choosing a word for us to incorporate in our speeches and topics for the night “tenacious".

Nenagh Toastmasters settled well into a rhythm with Helen Spillane following Toastmasters' new 'Pathways'. Helen is a very experienced speaker and owned the floor from the beginning, making use of her vocal variety, engaging everyone with her impromptu ability to use the chosen word of the night, "tenacious” in a humorous, fun way. Patti O'Neill loved everything about Helen's speech and encouraged her to show us more of her self in the future. We were all awed with her natural, spontaneous way.

Brendan O'Brien showed us how Toastmasters is beneficial in career opportunities. Brendan did a presentation for an interview he is attending shortly. Brendan greatly appreciated the feedback he got from Francis Bourke and other Toasties.

Other members of the club that helped with smooth running of the evening were Paddy Rohan and Madeline Cleary.
Willie Grace was general evaluator and recommended to keep with Toastmasters' formal approach to introduction.

The evening was a great success and we look forward to meeting again on 2nd October.
