A strong final quarter from Toomevara ensured that their County Junior 'A' Championship ambitions are still alive after coming through a scrappy and physical quarter final battle against Holycross on Sunday afternoon.

The North champions were not at their best for large spells of this encounter but pulled out the scores needed to close out the game against a Holycross side that will rue yet another missed opportunity for victory here.

But Toome’s big game players came to the fore when the game was in the melting pot, with Paddy Tuohy and Paddy Grace showing the leadership needed – particularly after going three points down, against the wind, midway through the second half and struggling up front.

Holycross will certainly bemoan this loss as another opportunity lost, especially after losing the Mid final to two late Boherlahan goals, but despite losing a key player in Seanie Nally to their seniors last weekend, they were in a good position going down the final fifteen minutes, but the scores didn’t come for them when required as they had no answer to the Toomevara scoring spree going down the home stretch.
