Coiste na nOg propose no change to age grades

Tipperary Coiste na nOg chairman Martin Bourke revealed at Monday's County Board meeting that following discussion among his committee that the age grades at underage level in the county remain unchanged.

With the minor grade at inter-county level moving to under 17 for the first time this year, many counties have changed their age grades to under 11, 13, 15 & 17 to follow suit, but Tipperary look set to buck the trend.

Martin Bourke said that following an evaluation of the underage scene in Tipperary this year, 62% of all games played were at under 12 level and that grade “must be protected” and his committee proposed that all the other age grades at under 14, 16 and minor (under 18) remain the same.

However, Central Council representative Michael Bourke told the meeting that it might be difficult to do so as many counties have changed at this stage and if a directive comes from Croke Park that Tipperary will be forced to change also.
