New Institute Snooker star Brendan O’Donoghue continues to break Snooker records by winning his eighth Munster Close title last weekend in Fermoy, Co. Cork.

It was also his fourth title in a row in what was a very demanding weekend of snooker where the standard was sky high and no less than three Munster Snooker titles were up for grabs.

Former Irish snooker champion and multi-winning player O’Donoghue was in fantastic form knocking in a huge 135 break on his way to the final and Nenagh had double celebrations last Sunday when Brendan’s club mate Tony Seymour won the Munster Masters Over 40’s title.

The Munster finals weekend was a culmination of over twelve months of qualifying, knockout and top class competitive snooker across the six counties and it all came down to three finals on Sunday, but play began on Saturday with the tournaments run by the Munster Snooker Council in the North Cork town.

The win was that bit extra special for Brendan O’Donoghue who won the inaugural Danny McGough Memorial Munster Close, which was named after the late Danny McGough from Killarney, who passed away recently.
