Nenagh musician to launch live EP

Nenagh musician James McGrath will launch his latest EP, a live recording, at Philly Ryan's pub this Friday night.

Titled 'Live at the Shed', James recorded the four-track release at Enfield in north London, where he has spent a lot of time over the last few years crafting his musical talent and playing the live scene. Many will be familiar with the songs – 'Can't Get Out', 'Bad Bends', 'Walk Away' and 'Race to the Bottom' – this time given a different dimension as they encapsulate the renowned raw energy of James' live performance.

“I'm very happy with that as I feel it's honest,” James said of the new recording, which he has released independently. “It's what you'd get if you come to hear me, warts and all!”

The Nenagh man recorded the EP with John Barnyard with help from his great friend Dave Lally, who has been working with James on his music. Among his previous releases are the '8 Cans' and 'Don't Listen to the B Sides' EPs.

James loves the London scene, where he has a formidable management team in Jim Kirkpatrick and Scott Ralph. He will also be having a 'Live at the Shed' launch night at one of his favourite London venues, The Swallow bar in Hillingdon, on September 8th, after which he'll go on to play on a selection radio shows.

Before all that, though, he's looking forward to the hometown release party at one of his favourite Nenagh venues this Friday night. “I'd like to thank the town for supporting me so strong on my journey and I hope to put on a good show for them on the 24th,” James said ahead of the gig. There's no admission charge and the music will be kicking off around 9pm.

'Live at the Shed' is now available to download on iTunes.
