Tipperary captain Orla O'Dwyer in action against Cork

Tipp already looking to build on improved campaign for 2019

After a great first season in charge of the Tipperary senior camogie team, Bill Mullaney can’t wait for 2019 to roll around.

Although disappointed about the result last Saturday, including this senior semi-final defeat to Cork, he reflected on how happy he was that his charges “had come a long way and improved a lot this year.”

He added: “We have 8 maybe 9 out there in their first season. I thought Caoimhe Bourke was absolutely brilliant, Cáit (Devane), Orla (O’Dwyer) Megan (Ryan) all contributed greatly to the play and I can’t say loudly enough how proud I am of their efforts and all the training including in the snow and showing up today.

We lacked a bit of finishing and decision making. Going in three points down at half time and some scores that should have gone under rather than over, would have made a big change in our tactics at half time.

But all the hooking and blocking was tiring on us but we had to keep the pressure up and that’s the difference between us, they were clinical in their finishing and they are not All Ireland champions for no reason.

Coming out here today we didn’t expect to win it but we did give them a good game so now it’s back to the clubs and hopefully we can pick up more players to add to the panels and keep what we have already because we are going in the right direction but we need to be a bit more seasoned and experienced, and we definitely need to be more fitter, more clinical, he concluded.
