National Dinghy Racing Championships in Killaloe

A very breezy Lough Derg provided plenty of excellent racing last weekend for competitors visiting Killaloe Sailing Club to compete in the clubs Waterways Ireland RS 200 & RS 400 Inlands and RS Feva Westerns Dinghy Sailing Championships held out on the lake at Carrownakilly, Ogonnelloe, 5km or so from Killaloe on the road to Tuamgraney.

This was a first for KSC,” said Sue Concannon, Commodore of the club.

We were delighted to welcome 38 dinghies including competitors from Northern Ireland, Baltimore, Dublin and one from the UK as well as local dinghies from Cullaun Sailing Club. The racing was truly fast & thrilling” added Sue.

Winners of the RS 400 class were Neil Spain and his crew John Downey from Howth YC, Winners of the RS 200 class were Frank O’Rourke and his crew Emma Hynes from Greystones. The winners of the RS Feva class were Elysia O’Leary and her crew Lily Dwyer from Dun Laoghaire.
