Earls wins Riverdale Pitch & Putt Scratch Cup

The highlight of the Riverdale club year, our annual Scratch Cups took place last Sunday.

There was a large turnout of players from all over the country with the course drawing great praise for its quality.

The senior grade saw some of the best players in the county take part. After 36 holes the lead was held by newly crowned Munster Strokeplay champion Kieran Earls who shot 91 with former winner Michael Fennel close behind on 94 with Brian Cahill of Lakeside and DJ Lynch both on 98. With the course drying out, conditions got more difficult in the final round. Kieran Earls however was majestic and he eventually finished a clear winner by five shots. Former winner Paul O'Brien had a great final round of 48 to finish in second place on the back 18 from Michael Fennel who has returned to form in the last few weeks. D J Lynch finished just one shot further back to take fourth with James Ryan of Bruff winning the final 18 with 51.
