Pressure off Tipp who can have a good crack at Mayo

TIPPERARY v MAYO

Semple Stadium, Thurles

Saturday 23rd June

Throw-in @ 5.00pm (E.T. & Frees)

Referee: Maurice Deegan (Meath)

Tipperary were hoping to host a giant of Gaelic Football at Semple Stadium this Saturday evening.

Ideally it would have been Kerry in a Munster Final but Cork and a sub-par performance in the Munster semi-final put paid to that dream.

However, instead it is back-to-back All Ireland runners-up Mayo who come to Thurles for a mouth-watering All Ireland round 2 qualifier where for the loser it is the end of the championship road.

Mayo will relish this. Coming to Thurles is new for them and they’ll be motivated and ready, backed by their mass following of green and red clad supporters who are likely to outnumber the home support but the sight of Mayo coming to Semple Stadium should generate a big home support and create a cracking championship atmosphere.

The thing then is for Tipperary to give them something to shout about.
