Tragic fire in Nenagh

GARDAÍ are investigating a fire at a vacant Nenagh premises where a body was discovered earlier this morning.

The fire broke out in a building on the corner of Kenyon St and Stafford St around 1am. A body was discovered at the scene.

It is understood that two people may have been living in the building. One of them managed to escape the fire.

Fire units from Nenagh and Cloughjordan attended the scene, which is now cordoned off pending the arrival of a garda crime scene investigation unit.

Formerly a pub, the building had been vacant for a number of years.
