Áras Folláin celebrates 10 years in Nenagh
Áras Folláin, Nenagh's mental health peer support group, recently celebrated 10 years supporting and helping the people of Nenagh.
Manager Margo Roche O'Donnell explained: “Áras Folláin started in a very small way, just a few people looking to support each other, and it has grown every year since then.”
The birthday celebrations were held along with the AGM, and were opened by Cllr John Carroll, Cathaoirleach of Nenagh Municipal District. Cllr Carroll spoke very movingly of the good that Áras Folláin does in the community. He complimented the great work the volunteers do, and also the Steering Committee members, past and present, for their commitment to making sure the centre is run well.
As Áras Folláin looks forward to the future, Margo said: “Our valuable work has been recognised in the support we get from the HSE, Mental Health Ireland, and North Tipperary Community Services. This support means we have been able to take on two part-time employees: Theo Kennedy to manage our training schedule and Amie Hughes to look after our volunteers.”
Margo went on to explain that some of the training courses include life skills, and well-being skills, and she urged anyone who would like to know more to contact the office on (067) 41906.
