Women falling on footpaths in Nenagh

Eight women have fallen on footpaths in Nenagh recently, Cllr Seamus Morris (SF) told a recent district council meeting.

He said the condition of many footpaths in the town is very poor and called for regular foothpath audits. Cllr Morris also wanted a survey of disabled parking bays in Nenagh and suggested that a wheelchair user should be allowed assist the council with this.

Cllr John Carroll (FF) said the footpaths in Tyone are in a particularly poor condition and he also asked the council to review parking facilities for the graveyard in the Tyone.

Cllr Hughie McGrath (Ind) said the council needs to consider the state of footpaths on Nenagh's approach roads, and outside the Convent school, where a woman tripped recently. Cllr McGrath also mentioned a problem with illegal dumping at Hanley's Place.

District Engineer Peter Fee said the council has carried out a survey of paths across the district and is aware of the situation. He said he would have more information at the council's March meeting.
