One of the trees that featured in last year's Nenagh Christmas Tree Festival at St Mary's.

Come and see the trees in St Mary's!

Beginning last Sunday and running daily until Sunday December 18th, Nenagh's third annual Christmas Tree Festival, taking place in St Mary's Church (Church of Ireland), is again brim-full of a wonderful display of Christmas trees.

The varied displays of Christmas trees that are in St Mary's for you to admire are absolutely amazing - the imagination and skill going into each and every tree is incredible.

Again, this year, there will be musical interludes during the afternoon - between 3pm and 4pm. The children range in age from 5 to 12 and some of these youngsters have already performed in the Royal Albert Hall in London. The Nenagh Brass Band will again come in on Thursday afternoon and we hope to have some wonderful harp music played by Dennis Sheehy. Rosemary Smith will be giving recorder recitals as well as some organ music along with Bryan Brislane during the rest of the Festival.

Cindy will again be providing her delicious afternoon teas, with home baking kindly provided by members of the parish. This year we will also have some gluten free goodies available from Jenny's Gluten Free Café in Pearse Street.

Seasonal produce, jams and chutneys will be available to purchase, together with little bric-a-brac items. The amazing quiz sheet to test your knowledge skills and a 'lucky dip' will also be available. A raffle, which will include a hand reared turkey, trailers of timber and lots of other prizes, will also take place.

In addition to parish funds, the Christmas Tree Festival will also be supporting the invaluable work undertaken at Áras Folláin (http://www.arasfollain.ie) and volunteers and staff members from Áras Folláin will be in attendance each day providing information on the services it provides.

The Christmas Tree Festival concludes on Sunday December 18th with the annual carol service, starting at 6pm. Please do come along to St Mary's and soak up some of the true Christmas atmosphere, gaze in wonder at the many spectacular trees, relax and listen to the seasonal music, enjoy some afternoon tea and delicious goodies, try your luck with the raffle and the quiz, meet up with family, friends and neighbours.

And, don't forget to vote for your favourite tree! This year there will be three categories: Favourite Organisation Tree, Favourite Individual Tree and Favourite Retail/Business Tree. Nenagh Chamber of Commerce has kindly offered a prize for the Best Retail/Business Tree, which will be selected by an local independent person.

Admission is €3 per adult (accompanied children free) and afternoon tea is €5. Wishing everyone a happy and peaceful Christmas and New Year!
