Gardaí catch cattle box thieves

Gardaí caught two men involved in the reported theft of a cattle box from Redwood, Lorrha, last Sunday. A witness contacted the gardaí after the cattle box was towed away from a yard. Gardaí responded and intercepted the alleged culprits near Knockalton, Nenagh. Both were arrested and the property was recovered.

 

Gardaí are investigating another fuel station theft in the Nenagh district, this time at Carrick Road, Roscrea. Fifteen cylinders of gas were stolen around 3.15am last Friday. A vehicle with three occupants was observed.

 

A number of items including tools and a battery were stolen from a vehicle at Tullaheady, Nenagh, overnight last Tuesday/Wednesday. Four windows of the vehicle were smashed. Around 150 litres of diesel was taken from an articulated truck at Lissenhall around the same timeframe.

 

Cocaine with an estimated value of €320 was seized when a man and vehicle were searched at Millersbrook, Nenagh, around 8.40pm last Saturday.

 

Gardaí are also investigating an allegation of assault causing harm at Kenyon St, Nenagh, in the early hours of Sunday morning. A man was allegedly headbutted and sustained facial injuries.

 

A disturbance was reported at Ballygraigue Court, Nenagh, in the early hours of last Monday morning. Gardaí called to the scene around 5am and reportedly found a man smashing the windows of his own car.

 

Another incident of criminal damage is being investigated in Newport after a car was vandalised in the early hours of Sunday morning. It is understood that a window was smashed and air was let out of the tyre of the car at Glencree.

 

In Roscrea, a woman was arrested on suspicion of drink driving at Racket Hall last Sunday evening. Bottles of alcohol were stolen from two supermarkets in Roscrea on Friday and Monday.

 

 

 

Garda warning over firearms

 

 

 

Gardaí are warning firearm owners that firearm licences must be renewed immediately.

 

In the event that a firearm is not licensed, gardaí will prosecute those who have not called to their local garda station with their certs.

 

Superintendent Robert Noonan has given a final warning that gardaí will have no choice but to seize firearms and prosecute the owners where their obligations have not been met.
