Clavin O'Rourke, fresh from his role in the youth academy's 'Joseph & His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat', plays the role of Benny Southstreet with Paddy Rohan, who plays Nathan Detroit.

'Guys & Dolls' return to Nenagh!

Fun-filled musical for all the family 'Guys & Dolls' makes a welcome return to the stage at Nenagh's Scouts Hall next week.
It's 23 years since the last outing for 'Guys & Dolls' at the Scouts Hall and now Nenagh Choral Society is bringing them back with a big and bright production that gets underway for six nights from Monday.
This wonderful Stateside story starts with Nathan Detroit, a desperate man in need of money for an illegal dice game. And he needs it fast. Not to mention a 14-year engagement with night club singer Miss Adelaide, whose patience is finally running out.
Enter notorious gambler Sky Masterson, a guy who can never turn down a bet, and straight-laced missionary Sarah Brown, a doll with a heart of ice. The wager: Sky has to romance Sarah by taking her to Havana. Surely this is one bet Nathan absolutely can't lose?
Featuring some of Broadway’s greatest show-stopping tunes, including 'Luck Be a Lady' and 'Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat', this is one feel-good show you won’t want to miss.
Among the principle roles, Paddy Rohan (twice nominated for AIMS awards) stars as Nathan Detroit. His fiancée Adelaide is played by Louise Cormack in her third stage outing with NCS.
Kevin Prout plays the slick gambler Sky Masterson, and Kevin's real-life fiancée Emily Sheary stars as Sarah Brown, a member of the mission on whom Sky places a bet with Nathan. Kevin and Emily are playing opposite each other for the second time. The first time was in 'Anything Goes' in 2010 - where they met - and they are now engaged! A NCS wedding!
Meanwhile Gerry Scanlon, who featured in the last production of 'Guys & Dolls' in the Scouts Hall in 1993, returns in the role of Arvide. A stalwart of NCS, Gerry is now appearing in his 47th consecutive show.
That 1993 production was very successful - Seamus McCarthy was nominated for an AIMS award for Best Comedian in the role of Nathan Detroit. Many other members of that production are involved again this year, including Greg Browne, Una Collins and Tom Lawlor. A number of youth academy 'graduates' also star in this production, including Paul Browne, Anthony White and Calvin O'Rourke, all of whom have lead roles. Also, Roisín Heenan and Aisling Deegan will play in the orchestra, which features an array of highly talented musicians.
A great night's entertainment that will leave you feeling uplifted and exhilarated, Nenagh Choral Society's new production of 'Guys & Dolls' runs from Monday March 14th to Saturday 19th. The show starts at 8pm each night except St Patrick's Day (Thursday March 17th) when it will be on at the earlier time of 6pm.
Booking details: Booking office open at the Scouts Hall daily from 10am to 5pm. You can also buy tickets by phoning 086-3122725. Tickets cost €10 for first three nights and €15 for last three nights.
