Pat McGrath - Writer and Performer of 'Small Plastic Wars'

The Belltable presents 'Small Plastic Wars'

The Belltable, Limerick are proud to present the hilarious 'Small Plastic Wars' on Saturday, March 12 at 8pm.

Written and performed by Pat McGrath and produced by Alan King, this hilarious tale tells the story of the main character, Joe. After losing his job, this is an amusing account of how one man turned an unfilled dream to bridge that void. Joe is in total control of his world. It’s a pity that it exists only in 1/35 scale and is made of plastic. Meanwhile back in the real world there’s a competition coming up and Joe just wants to be left alone to build his models and win best in show. Unemployment has finally given him the time to enjoy his hobby of sticking bits of plastic together, but unfortunately his wife, his kids, the bank, his nemesis Hermann (whose real name is Brian), the checkout girl in Tesco and Angela Merkel have other ideas. A comedy small in scale, but imbued with a surprising universality, this is one not to be missed as it is guaranteed to have you laughing from beginning to end.

'Small Plastic Wars' was developed as part of Show in a Bag, an artist initiative of Fishamble: The New Play Company, Irish Theatre Institute and Dublin Fringe.

“McGrath’s wonderful performance does justice to his hilarious, well-paced script.”
