Nenagh garden vandalised

Wanton vandalism was visited upon Nenagh Community Garden last week.

The culprits caused widespread damage on the site, including ripping open the polytunnel and making holes in it, and damaging a shed door.

Officially opened in 2012 by President Michael D Higgins, the voluntary-run garden at Cudville is a project undertaken by a number of community groups to promote fruit & vegetable growing, educational activities, and positive living.

Project Coordinator Gerry Coffey said vandals have gained access to the site despite the installation of a locked door at its entrance. Mr Coffey said the problem has been ongoing but came to a head last week.

The matter has been reported to the gardaí. Anyone with information is asked to contact Nenagh Garda Station.
