The Five Counties Céilí Band will perform at the Connie Ryan Set Dancing Weekend.

Set dancing weekend in Nenagh

All the Christmas celebrations are over so now it's time to think of working off the excesses of the season - what better way to start than by a weekend of dancing.
Club Rince are holding their annual Connie Ryan Set Dancing Weekend in the Abbey Court Hotel from Friday January 8th – Sunday January 10th. This is the 27th year of the Set Dancing in weekend in Nenagh and the club is still going strong.
The weekend is made up of three céilithe and workshops as well as a session in the hotel bar. The workshops are taught by Pat Murphy, a very talented teacher that teaches all over the world. He has also written set dancing books. He caters for all levels by teaching some simple sets as well as a more complicated one. He also teaches some two-hand dances.
On Friday night we start off with a céilí from 9pm - 12am, with The Five Counties Céilí Band, an extremely talented and lively group who will leave us looking forward to the rest of the weekend.
On Saturday there are two workshops from 10.30am - 1pm and 2.30pm - 5pm. Different sets are taught at each workshop, so you can attend one workshop or both. There is a session in the hotel bar from 7pm - 9pm to get you in the mood for the céilí.  The céilí with The Swallow's Tail Céilí Band is on from 9pm - 12am. These are a brilliant band that play some fantastic reels and their music gives a great lift to the spirit and keep the feet tapping long into the night.
On Sunday morning we have our final workshop from 11am - 1pm. We finish the weekend with a céilí, 2.30pm - 5.30pm, with music by the Glenside Céilí Band. They are a joy to dance to and always leave us wishing we could dance some more.
Refreshments are served at the céilithe. We hope to see all of our dancing friends there and to welcome some new ones. For further information contact Connie Kennedy, 087 9542163
Set dancing classes return to the Abbey Court Hotel on Tuesday January 12th with dance master Michael Loughnane. Beginners 8 - 9 pm; Advanced 9 - 10.30pm. New members are always welcome.
