Local revellers enjoying the fun at Limerick on Ice

Revellers put their skates on for Limerick on Ice!

Almost 250 people put on their skates for this year's Nenagh Rail Partnership annual train trips to Limerick on Ice.

The 246 revellers travelled over three days from Roscrea, Cloughjordan, Nenagh, Birdhill and Castleconnell.
“Once again everybody had a fantastic time,” said Virginia O'Dowd of Nenagh Rail Partnership. “It was great to see so many people each day. There was unbelievable excitement at the stations, especially among the younger travellers, many of whom were taking the train for the first time.”
Ms O'Dowd said the trip was now very much part of people's Christmas calendar.
Duncan Martin of Cloughjordan revealed that 91 skaters travelled from Cloughjordan on New Year's Eve. “This event gets more popular every year. People start asking for the date and details weeks before the event,” he said.
Jack Doherty pointed out that 40 people travelled from Roscrea to Limerick on Ice for their day on December 30th.
Nenagh Rail Partnership thanked Irish Rail, particularly Jim Gallivan and all the staff at the local stations, for all their help and support. They also thanked Limerick on Ice for the reduced entrance fee.
The Partnership encouraged people to make more use of the train at €6 per adult and €3 per child return to Limerick. There are also reduced fares online for travel to Dublin if booked three days in advance.
