Garrykennedy after Storm Desmond to feature on Channel 4

The impact of last Saturday's Storm Desmond  in the Lough Derg side village of Garrykennedy is to feature in on Channel 4 television this Sunday night.

Graphic film footage shot by village resident and videographer, Robin Wallace, in the hours directly after the storm  have been licensed  by Channel 4, which will be featuring it in a programme called 'Britain's Wildest Weather', to be screened at 7.30pm.

Wallace initially posted his dramatic footage on his Facebook page. It features a deluge of water flowing down the back road of the village, eroding away large sections of the road's surface.

There are also scenes of the flooded village harbour where Wallace's young son, Oisín, is  seen walking along pathways submerged by the deluge of rain brought by the storm, and that brought huge volumes of water into Lough Derg.

Boats semi-sunken by the rain and others partially capsized by the high winds also feature in the footage, as does Wallace and his son splashing through large floods of water in the forest beside the village.
