Tipp star announces his retirement

Newport's Conor O'Mahony has announce his retirement from inter-county hurling. The two-time All Star thanked the Tipperary County Board and his club, Newport, for their great loyalty over his 15-year inter-county career.

He added: Playing inter-county hurling requires lots of sacrifices particularly from players’ families. I want to thank Niamh and my family and friends for their great support at all times. I would also like to thank my employers Snickers Workwear for their support and encouragement to me in my playing career. Finally, I want to wish Tipperary well for the future. I have no doubt this current group of players will go on to achieve many more successes.”

The standout event in his Tipperary career was winning an All Ireland title in 2010, his other honours included five Munster titles and one National League medal.
