Order of Malta fundraiser for Roscrea's Adam

The Order of Malta in Nenagh recently took part in a national awareness and fundraising initiative in memory of the late Adam McAndrew of Roscrea.

On February 12th 2015, 13-year old Adam McAndrew died of a sudden cardiac arrest. Adam, who lived at Ballaghmore, was a second year student at Coláiste Phobal Roscrea and soccer player with Killavilla United FC. His family, supported by the Order of Malta, are committed to honouring Adam's memory by ensuring that as many people as possible know how to perform CPR. The 'Adam's Gift' initiative is our way of giving back to communities by offering the gift of life saving skills.
Between October 12th and 18th Order of Malta Ambulance Coprs Units across the island of Ireland offered Cardiac First Responder training to their local communities, training as many people as possible. We want to share this gift with you, so that you can save a life!
People were encouraged to make small donations to Adam's Gift during the week. 100% of donations went to Order of Malta Ireland, a national charity comprising over 4,000 trained and dedicated volunteers who care for the vulnerable and disadvantaged, the sick and the poor, and all who may benefit from our community care initiatives, first aid, and youth services, and specialist training programmes.
Nenagh Order of Malta held a CPR information session with school students in the Study Hub at Nenagh's Business Innovation Centre recently.
