Library hours under review

Tipperary County Council is reviewing the opening hours of the county’s 12 public libraries amid calls for greater accessibility.

County Librarian Jes Codd told last week’s meeting of the council that new proposals for Saturday, nighttime and lunch time openings are being considered, subject to resources.

He was responding to concerns from councillors over library opening hours. Cllr John Hogan (FF) called for the libraries in Roscrea and Templemore to be opened between 10am and 1pm on Saturdays. This would be more beneficial to both children and parents than opening between 10am and 1pm on Mondays, he said.
