Tipp prepares for culture night

A host of free events will take place across Tipperary to celebrate Culture Night on Friday September 18th. Throughout the day and into the night, locals and visitors across the island of Ireland will enjoy a wide range of free entertainment.

With events planned by local arts providers and groups in 25 venues across 12 towns throughout the day, from family fun art workshops, exhibitions and free concerts to film screenings, there is something for all ages and interests this Culture Night in Tipperary.

Events are planned in Ballina, Cahir, Carrick on Suir, Cashel, Clonmel, Cloughjordan, Fethard, Nenagh, Roscrea, Thurles and Tipperary Town so check out the programme to see what is happening near you.

In Cloughjordan, Tonos featuring Róisín O’Grady (Soprano) and Eamon Sweeney (Baroque Guitar) will perform at the Thomas MacDonagh Centre. Tonos specialise in a unique blend of Irish and European music from the 16th, 17th & 18th centuries; mixing Irish with works by English and Continental masters; highlighting common threads and distinct differences.  Tonos’ music appeals to a cross-section of concert-goers, those who enjoy Early Music, Irish Music, Vocal Music, Guitar Music and Classical Music. The night will conclude with oiche ceoil agus rince.

There are also many music sessions/oiche ceoil and a range of events planned throughout the county.   These are just a few of the possibilities offered in County Tipperary on Culture night this year so do pick up a Culture Night brochure at your local library, museum or arts centre to see what you can take part in on Friday 18 September in your area.
