Noel coonan td welcomes 40 million for 2015 sports capital programme

Tipperary TD Noel Coonan has welcomed the announcement of €40 million funding for the 2015 round of Sports Capital Funding. Deputy Noel Coonan is urging Tipperary sports clubs and organisations to register as soon as possible to be in with a chance of accessing the €40 million in funding available.

'This is the third round of Sports Capital funding that has been made available under this Government, following years of neglect in this area by the previous administration. Nationally, this programme has been a huge success. I am kindly urging Tipperary groups to apply for the scheme immediately to give themselves the best chance of making a good application.

'I have been contacted by several Tipperary sport organisations already who are interested in applying for the Sports Capital Programme. Applications can only be made online and all interested bodies should go to www.sportscapitalprogramme.ie to register and make an application,” Deputy Coonan said.

'The Sports Capital Programme is the Government’s primary vehicle for supporting the development of sports facilities and the purchase of non-personal sports equipment. When these grants are allocated later this year, this Government will have committed almost €130 million for the development of vital sports infrastructure across the country.  This is testament to the Government’s belief in the value and power of sport to strengthen communities and gives people greater opportunities to engage in sport,' concluded Deputy Coonan.
