Snow falls in north tipperary

There were snow falls throughout North Tipperary in the early hours of Tuesday morning, and Met Eireann says the cold snap in the county is to continue for the coming days.

The midday temperature in Tipperary on Tuesday was forecast at just 2 degrees Celcius.

Wednesday in the county looks little different, with a forecast of 3 degrees, then 5 degrees on Thursday and 4 degrees on Friday.

Widespread icy patches are forecast in Munster this Tuesday night as temperatures plummeted to between zero and minus 4 degrees.

This Wednesday is expected to be dry with sunny spells, but still very cold. Temperatures in the afternoon will rage 3 to 6 degrees in a light north to north west breeze.

The threat of more snow seems to have abated. Forecasters say it will be mainly dry over the coming days, and bright spells are expected in Munster over the weekend.
