Thefts in nenagh and burglary in ballingarry

An audacious theft on the outskirts of Nenagh has left the female victim €1,400 poorer.

The middle aged woman was sitting in her car outside her workplace in Kilkeary on Monday December 22nd at about 5.30pm when a car pulled up beside her.

A man got out of the passenger seat, opened the passenger door of her car and snatched the victim's handbag, which contained €1,000 in cash as well as jewellery and a mobile phone to the value of €400.

He then jumped back into the waiting car and made off with the haul.

Co-incidentially, a theft from the vehicle of another woman in Nenagh town centre occurred just minutes beforehand. The woman returned to her car in Silver Street to find the passenger window smashed and her handbag containing €150 missing.

Gardaí in Nenagh, who are investigating both incidents, say they are likely connected and have appealed for information.

In another incident, The Glue Pot pub in Ballingarry was burgled on Christmas Night.  The owners were out at the time and returned at around 2am to find the rear door of the premises had been forced open.

Cash registers were broken open and about €300 in cash taken. The culprits also made off with approximately €500 worth of cigarettes and two bottles of vintage whiskey worth €300.
