Elderly terrified by pranksters in roscrea

Elderly people living in Chapel Lane and the Ard Ross areas of Roscrea are being terrified by youths throwing Halloween bangers through the letter boxes of their front doors.

The shocking news emerged at a meeting of the annual general meeting of the town's Community Development Council in the Abbey Hall on Thursday night.

George Graham told those present that the curtain behind one door in a woman's house in Chapel Lane sustained burn marks when a banger was put through her letter box.

Mr Graham said there was 'a lot of anti-social behaviour in the lane at the moment'.

He said the situation was so bad that a group of locals had decided to join forces to patrol the area, wearing high-visibility vests, from 8pm to 12 midnight on Halloween Night.
