Shinrone United wrapped up their hugely impressive season with victory over Ballymackey FC in the Barry Cup final on Sunday.

John Pio Fitzpatrick scored twice to take his personal tally to 19 for the season and U17 star Riann McLoughlin also netted as Derek McLoughlin’s side added to their Shield success from earlier in the season.

The Offaly side have made a habit of finishing games strongly but they were dominant from the start here against a Ballymackey side that never really got going. Derek McLoughlin squared for Fitzpatrick to score his first inside twenty minutes and he should have doubled his side’s advantage from the spot later in the half but his penalty was excellently turned away by David McElliot.

In truth Shinrone had plenty of chances to put the game out of sight in the opening half but time and time again they found McElliot in excellent form in the Ballymackey goal.
