Hayes hits four as Nenagh march on

Campile United 0

Nenagh AFC 6

A quality display by the Nenagh AFC Youths saw them progress to the last 16 of the FAI Cup after a resounding away win over Campile United in Wexford on Saturday.

Man of the match Sean Hayes opened the scoring after eight minutes, converting a penalty after he was fouled in the area as a result of one of his blistering runs at the Campile defence.

Nenagh enjoyed the most of the possession for the first 25 minutes but gradually the New Ross based side were starting to find their way in the game. The defensive trio of Matthew O’Gorman, Matthew McGee and Liam Heffernan were up to the challenge and thwarted any attack on goalkeeper Stephen Mulvihill in the Nenagh goal.

In the 44th minute, a defensive clearance by Matthew McGee found an unmarked Craig Gleeson on the left wing and his speed saw him outpace two defenders and his low cross into the box was met by the oncoming Sean Hayes who had an easy tap in for his second goal and a solid half time lead for his side.
