Contrasting fortunes for Nenagh and Newport in Munster Junior Cup

Nenagh AFC progressed to the next round of the Munster Junior Cup while Newport Town bowed out at the round 2 stage last weekend.

Nenagh had a potentially tricky trip to third division Kilfrush on Sunday but left with a good 2-0 win with goals from Ciaran O'Reilly and Luke Kennedy to progress to round three and a home tie with premier division pace-setters Ballynanty Rovers.

On a recent good run of form, Newport Town were in confident mood heading into Garryown on Sunday to take on Premier League side Geraldines. However it wasn’t to be as it was Geraldines who ran out 4-1 winners, which wasn’t a true reflection of the game.
