Contrasting fortunes for Nenagh and Newport

Nenagh AFC only picked up one point from a possible six in their two Limerick League games over the past seven days.

Firstly last Thursday, Nenagh entertained Aisling Annacotty in Brickfields and after a lacklustre display we found themselves on the receiving end of a 1-0 defeat.

Nenagh made the journey to Limerick on Sunday to take on Geraldines and after a tough battle we came away with a share of the spoils, 2-2.

The home side took the lead midway through the half. Three minutes into the second half, Nenagh were level when Ciaran O'Reilly popped up in the box to fire past the Geraldines keeper. Soon after Nenagh went 2-1 up when after a good spell of pressure a Geraldines player scored an O.G.

Nenagh had a couple of chances to go further ahead but failed to convert them and with fifteen minutes to go we were punished when Geraldines equalised with a strike from just inside the box to earn a share of the spoils.

Brian O'Sullivan scoring the first goal in the fifth minute with the second goal from Darren Collins in the second half with O'Sullivan scoring another goal in the final minutes of the match.

Newport played their second match on Sunday at home v Caherconlish, winning 3-2 with James Lynch contributing with a brace with Davy Ryan getting the other.
