Killavilla and Thurles continue to set the pace

By James Kirwan

Killavilla United and Thurles Town made it three wins from three at the weekend as they continue to set the early pace in the North Tipperary & District League Premier Division.

Thurles Town ran out 1-0 winners against title rivals BT Harps at the Greyhound Stadium on Sunday. Luke Jordan got the all-important winner midway through the first half to keep Town’s two-year undefeated streak going.

Killavilla had it a littler easier on Friday evening as they travelled to Drombane to face Clodiagh Rangers. Goals from Joe Moloney (2), Shane Moloney and a seventh of the season from Paul Kirwan saw the Roscrea side run out 4-0 winners.

Elsewhere in the top division, Nenagh Celtic continued their mini revival as they ran out 5-1 winners away to Portumna Town on Sunday. A brace from Marky Walsh was added to by further goals from Jimmy Hynes, Brian Mitchell and a Sean Healy penalty as a late Garry Curran goal gave Kieran Curran’s Portumna little solace.

Division 1

A Michael O’Gorman strike was enough to see Rearcross get their second win of the season against a Borrisokane side who now languish at the bottom of the table without a point after three games.
