Nenagh Ormond produced the perfect performance to throw off the shackles and go some way to putting their early season woes behind them, with a thumping six try win against Galwegians in the Ulster Bank League last Saturday afternoon.

With nothing less than a win an acceptable outcome in the lead up to this game, the pressure was well and truly on Ormond to produce a result, as a loss here would have left Nenagh further behind the pack while also being dragged into a basement battle with their opponents on the day.

But they certainly pulled a big performance out of the hat on Saturday, and a very rounded one at that, as they completely outplayed their western opponents, dominating the set piece while also running in six tries which will have proven to be a real tonic to the Ormond die-hards looking on, who have been starved of this kind of performance in recent months.

Led by a fantastic performance by scrum-half Nicky Irwin, and a very good shift from the Nenagh pack, Ormond set about their task immediately.
