Nenagh Ormond ground out a badly needed win on Friday night when they scraped past UL Bohemians in a round 3 game that went right down to the final whistle.

Leading 13-7 with five minutes left, Nenagh looked like they were going to see the game out with little fuss and looked the more likely to score again, having been extremely tight in defence throughout, but a late surge gave UL Bohs a try, but mercifully for Ormond, Robbie Bourke sliced the conversion to the left of the posts as Nenagh saw out the remainder and finally got their first points on the board.

In truth, it would have been a cruel loss for Ormond as they were the better team for most of the contest with only a lapse in communication under a dropping ball gifting Bohs their try in the first half and with the pack really fronting up, led by the impressive Kevin O’Flaherty, they were defensively sound and their set-piece seems to be gradually improving and this will be vital going forward into the rest of the season.
