MacGiloney justifies good support at Cork

Denis Hogan.

Denis Hogan, who tasted success earlier in the week when Classic Escape scored at Ballinrobe, was on the mark again at Cork on Saturday, this time MacGiloney was the provider as he justified good support when landing the three mile maiden hurdle with the trainer himself in the saddle.

Having hit the crossbar on a number of occasions, the Milan gelding made no mistake this time as he came from well off the pace to collar Foxy Jacks in the shadow of the post and win going away by two lengths.

A dual bumper winner, MacGiloney has taken his time to shed his maiden tag over hurdles, his hurdling was good in the main apart from hitting the second last hard. The fact that the first pair finished no less than 33 lengths clear of the third horse would suggest that they are well up to average and capable of holding their own in handicap company.
