All the Chimneys scores again for Austin

Just like whiskey, the Willie Austin trained All the Chimneys is improving with age and he scored for the third time this season when he landed the extended two mile 92-111 handicap chase at Thurles on Thursday.

Twice a winner at Clonmel, as well as being in the frame in his five previous outings, the Bach gelding seems to be still improving at the age of ten and the story looks to be far from over.

Rider David Mullins was in no hurry to put him into the firing line as he settled him off the pace. He seemed to come off the bridle briefly going across the top of the hill but was back on the bridle again turning to face the judge. Mullins asked him for his effort after the second last fence where he tackled the long time leader D'bru Na Boinne. There was little to choose between the pair going to the last where the latter unseated Paul Townend, leaving All the Chimneys to come home alone and defeat the locally trained recent course winner Seskin Flyer by five lengths.

Owned by Tadhg Hogan from Ardcroney, the winner has been a great servant to connections as he was scoring for the seventh time in all as well as being in the money a further ten or so times. He has also been a good advertisement for the training skills of Willie Austin who has managed to keep him fresh and well after more than 40 appearances.
