A dozen dogs are still in with a chance of St Leger glory in Limerick

Twelve greyhounds remain in the race for the €60,000 Barking Buzz App St Leger in Limerick ahead of semi final weekend.

Both races will be ran on Saturday night’s race card in Greenpark, with the top three in each semi progressing to next weekend’s St Leger final.

Clonbrien Hero, Clonbrien Prince, Lenson Blinder and Gurteen Feather are among the notable names that will be taking their places in the traps on Saturday night.

The St Leger is one of 14 ‘Classic’ races in the Irish greyhound calendar and one of two held in Limerick, along with the Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Stake.

Racing manager with Limerick Greyhound Stadium, Liam Kennedy, commented: “What a few weeks it has been here at Greenpark. Sixty dogs have now been whittled down to twelve for the Barking Buzz App Irish St Leger, with some of the highest quality greyhound racing you will see in this country. The Leger always attracts the best calibre of dogs and trainers nationwide, but this year, as with most years, there are some high class local connections that have made their presence felt over the last few Saturdays as well.”

He continued: “There’s been a real buzz in the air over the last few weeks as we get closer and closer to crowning the overall Leger winner for 2018. It’s been a Classic in every sense of the word so far and we’re all really looking forward to hosting semi final night here at Limerick Greyhound Stadium. I want to wish the very best of luck to the twelve semi finalists and their connections.”

The Barking Buzz App Irish St. Leger will continue over the next two Saturdays, with the Final on Saturday, November 3rd. The stadium restaurant and admission packages are available to book now for all stages of the competition, including the final.
