League success for Broderick and O'Meara

There was Tipperary success on the double following an exciting final of the Showjumping Ireland season.

With 75 declared combinations, 65 of these started the National Grand Prix final on Saturday. A strong course saw just eleven competitors making their way to the second round.

It was Captain Geoff Currans day for victory with Drumiller Lough storming around the jump off course in an unbeatable time of 41.45. Joint sponsor of the day, Greg Broderick provided a foot perfect round in 44.92 to secure sixth place with Dabelle.

Although out of the placings on this occasion, Toomevara's Liam O’Meara had the Overall League Winner title well wrapped up prior to the final leg. O’Meara was presented with both Overall League Winner for 2018 with Mr. Coolcaum, Runner-up with Cruaighgraigue Jack Take Flight and also won the Leading Owner award of the league.

On Sunday, in the final round of the TRM/ HSI New Heights Champion Series, a third and fifth placed finishes with Duco and Chinook was enough for Inch's Greg Broderick

Broderick’s result with Duco, added to his opening wins in the Meadows and Portmore, ensured he claimed the leading rider prize of €2000 while Ashleigh Skillen was awarded the €1000 leading grooms prize.

Fellow Ballypatrick stable rider Darragh Ryan secured the €1000 on offer for the runner-up. Ryan finished just outside the top six placings on Sunday with Rincoola Rua but has been inside the top 10 on five occasions throughout the Series.
