Morris driven by minor revenge

By Coilin Duffy

Nenagh's Jake Morris is hoping for some Munster revenge next Tuesday, when Tipperary face Cork in the Bord Gais Energy Munster U20 Hurling final in Semple Stadium.

The Rebels beat Tipperary two years ago in the last-ever Munster Minor Championship at under 18 level, and also accounted for Tipperary in last year's Under 21 Munster decider, before the Premier County had the upper-hand in the All-Ireland showpiece.

Last year we got a trimming down in Cork when we went down for a Munster final,” Morris told the Nenagh Guardian.

That is still on my mind, and I was playing in the Senior Munster final as well, so that bit of hurt is inside me too. I want to right the wrongs next Tuesday night and I think we are all ready to go.

It's a good Cork team. They beat us after a replay at Minor level, so there's a bit of revenge to be got from this squad of 20's.”

Home comforts have already proven good for both counties in the Championship, with Cork accounting for Limerick and Clare en-route to the final in Páirc Uí Rinn, while Tipperary advanced to the decider with a 3-23 to 0-10 semi-final win over Waterford at Semple Stadium.

Morris says Tipperary still have some improvements to make heading into the decider.

We have a lot to work on from that first game,” he said.
