Borrisokane first half goal blitz downs Ballinahinch

A powerful display from Borrisokane saw them brush aside the challenge of Ballinahinch on Saturday, setting up a semi-final clash with Kiladangan – the next hurdle on their quest to retain the North Intermediate Hurling Championship title.

Four first-half goals dealt killer blows to a Ballinahinch side who showed promise in the second period but failed to ever match the class of Borrisokane, a team just beginning to harness the wave of young talent which has swept into their adult ranks.

The reigning North champions began the game with energy and tempo, unnerving Ballinahinch with constant movement and seamless inter-play, much of which resulted in a score of some description. They spread those scoring duties among five players, all of whom contributed a point within the first ten minutes.

Shane McGrath’s crisp striking and general finesse haven’t faded since his inter-county days, and when the midfielder notched over his second point, Ballinahinch seemed to be gaining a foothold in the game.
