SCÓR ALL-IRELAND FINALS
All-Ireland Glory for North and South Tipp.
Scenes of jubilation filled the Royal Theatre in Castlebar on Saturday last, April 13th, when the South Tipp club of Newcastle and the North Tipp club of Newport were declared All-Ireland Champions in Scór Sinsir.
Newcastle, right, were first to be announced All-Ireland winners when eight ladies stepped out in fine fashion and gave a splendid display in the Rince Fóirne competition, having been coached by dancer extraordinaire Kathy Coleman.
Representing Newcastle were Danielle McCarthy, Sinéad Grant, Leah Condon, Eimear O’Connor, Veronica McNamara, Orlaith Nugent, Chloe Hennebry, Kayleigh O’Brien. Comhghairdeas libh a chailíní.
Newport, left, were then announced All-Ireland champions in the Léiriú (Novelty Act) competition having delighted the audience with a hilarious comedy entitled ‘FOWL PLAY AT THE BORDER’. Representing Newport were Tom McCabe, Paraic Kennedy, Caitríona O’Brien, Terry O’Brien, Gavin Ryan, John Tuohey, Carol O’Hara, and Mary Browne. Comhghairdeas libh a aisteoirí.
Treasa McGrath from Newcastle was an All-Ireland finalist in the Aithriseoireacht / Scéalaíocht competiton and gave an outstanding performance of her own composition ‘YOU CAN’T PUT HER ON STAGE’. Treasa was narrowly defeated in what was a hotly contested competition. Maith thú a Threasa.
Earlier in the day Tipperary was proudly represented in a battle of the wits by the Moyne-Templetuohy Tráth na gCeist team (left) of Jim O’Meara, Paddy Moran, Francis Cleere and Tom Collier, photographed with Denis Floyd, Josephine Cahill and Mark Dunne. Maith sibh a bhuachaillí.
Comhghairdeas le Donncha de Flóid ó Thulach Sheasta who was Máistir na gCeist for the Tráth na gCeist event. Donncha was indeed a Máistir den scoth as he challenged the brains of the country with questions on hurling, camogie, Irish Culture, general knowledge, history, geography and current affairs.
All-Ireland Scór was also an historic day for Seamus McGrath, right, from the Newcastle club as he was presented with a special award from the President of the GAA, John Horan, for his work in Scór at club, county and provincial levels. Comhghairdeas leat a Shéamuis.

MUNSTER MINOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The Tipperary minor footballers got their 2019 Electric Ireland Munster Minor Football Championship off to the perfect start with a decisive 4-13 to 0-7 victory over Waterford in their Phase 1 Round 1 encounter last week.
Captain, Kyle Shelly (Moycarkey-Borris) topped the scoring stakes, shooting 2-8 (6f) of his sides tally, with the other goals coming from Paddy Creedon (Thurles Sarsfields) and Tom Tobin (Rosegreen).
This Wednesday evening, April 17th, the side travels to Cusack Park, Ennis, to take on Clare in round 2. This should be a much tougher encounter as Clare also had a large win over Limerick in their first match. The team has been announced by manager Matt O'Doherty and it shows the same starting fifteen as last week with three changes in personnel among the subs and it lines out as follows;

Best wishes to Sean Lonergan (Moyle Rovers) as he takes charge of the Electric Ireland Munster Minor Football Championship Phase 1 Round 2 fixture between Waterford and Limerick in Fraher Field this Wednesday evening.
CLUB FIXTURES
The first rounds of the Tipperary Water County Senior, Intermediate and Junior Football Championships took centre stage last weekend.
Remaining first round county senior and intermediate football fixtures will be played within the coming week together with first round action in Junior B football. Outside of that there is a host of divisional games down for decision ranging from senior to underage.

The 2019/20 and 2020/21 Tipperary GAA Clubs draw has been launched and all clubs are actively renewing membership as the first draw for 2019/20 will take place on Friday May 10th.

POST PRIMARY
Congratulations to Tipperary schools who finished the year at Munster level with great success for the county. Colaiste Mhuire Durlas claimed the Munster U15 E Hurling Final following a 13-22 to 3-4 victory over St. Patricks Comprehensive School Shannon. Elsewhere, Colaiste Dun Iascaigh Cahir took the U16.5 D Corn Seosamh Uí Neill Football title following their 1-10 to 0-8 victory over Beara Community School.
At county level, Our Lady’s Templemore lifted the U17 Fitzgerald Hurling Cup with a 0-25 to 2-15 defeat of Nenagh CBS.
HEALTH & WELLBEING
Congratulations to all our new Healthy Club officers who completed training last Thursday night in Lar na Pairce. Tutors for the evening were Collette Coady from Croke Park and Seamus Delaney from J.K. Bracken’s. County Chairman John Devane welcomed the participants and assured them of the boards continued support for the Healthy Club Project. Tipperary now has twenty clubs signed up to the initiative. The county committee are encouraging clubs to support the annual Darkness into Light fundraiser for Pieta House on May 11th. This annual event provides vital funds for Pieta House to enable the organisation deliver vital services in the fight against suicide and self-harm. GROUNDS PERSON EDUCATIONAL DAY
The National Pitch Maintenance Workgroup is holding a Grounds Person Educational Day in Thurles on April 27th for the Munster region.
This is a unique opportunity for grounds people, county/club officers (operationally responsible) for their club and /or county pitches who wish to carry out their work in a more informed manner.

The Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps are back for 2019. Registration includes the attractive and distinctive Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camp kit that is supplied to participants and is worn with pride by young boys and girls all over the country.

HANDBALL
Tipperary were involved in 6 All-Ireland 40x20 semi-finals at the weekend. It was a good weekend with 4 pairs reaching All Ireland finals which are fixed for Kingscourt in Cavan on the weekend of April 27th and 28th.
In St Joseph’s in Wexford, Brian O’Brien & John Kennedy (Silvermines) won in the MBD. Meanwhile, in O’Loughlin’s in Kilkenny, Aiden O’Flaherty & Liam Bradshaw (Youghalarra/Newport) got through after 3 sets.
On home soil in Nenagh, Joseph and Finbarr Ryan (Silvermines) had to fight every inch of the way in a 2-hour marathon to win in SMBD. While in the Ladies JBD Eleanor Percy & Síle Spain (Lahorna) were also victorious.
Commiserations to Tipp players unfortunately failing to make the finals; Tony and Pat O’Flaherty (Youghalarra) in the GMAD and in the RMD to Jim Ryan and Paddy Collins (Silvermines/Ballina)
