Lidl Ireland reveal even more #SeriousSupport for National Leagues and Post-Primary Schools

THE Ladies Gaelic Football Association’s National League sponsors and retail partners Lidl Ireland have revealed even more groundbreaking #SeriousSupport ahead of the eagerly-anticipated 2019 campaign.

The LGFA is pleased to confirm, in association with Lidl Ireland, a schedule of LIVE fixtures from the 2019 Lidl National Leagues that will be available to view on the Association’s Facebook Page.

A game from each of the seven regulation rounds of fixtures will be broadcast LIVE on Facebook, along with selected semi-finals.

In a new departure, it has also been confirmed that the Lidl All-Ireland Post Primary Schools Senior A Final, which is pencilled in for the weekend of March 30/31, will also be available to viewers LIVE on Facebook.

The Facebook LIVE coverage will begin next Sunday – and the LGFA will announce full details of the selected Round 1 fixture before the weekend.

In addition, Lidl Ireland has announced a new initiative, which is live as of today (TUES), which will result in a €250,000 investment in a nationwide schools campaign where 159 Post-Primary Schools across the country will receive jerseys and equipment for their teams.

Selected schools will then go on to take part in a brand new #SeriousSupport programme delivered by LGFA inter-county players, which aims to show girls the benefits of playing sport both on and off the pitch.

To nominate your local LGFA post primary school, simply log on to www.lidl.ie/jerseys
today and enter the 10-digit unique code found at the end of your till receipt.

The Ladies Gaelic Football Association has confirmed that the initiative will also apply in Antrim, Armagh, Derry, Down, Fermanagh and Tyrone. Further details of how to enter in these counties will follow shortly.

Speaking on behalf of Lidl Ireland, Managing Director John Paul Scally commented: “Last year we announced a 3-year deal extension in our partnership with the LGFA which represents one of the largest sponsor investments in female sports in Europe. As a company we are extremely proud to continue to be the biggest supporter of women's sport in the country.

“As we invest in our sponsorship year on year, we further amplify the visibility of the sport giving it the recognition it deserves.

“When looking to the new season ahead, we look forward to introducing further initiatives and supporting more schools, clubs and counties all over Ireland and elevate the game to an all-new level.”

Ladies Gaelic Football Association President Marie Hickey said: "When Lidl promised #SeriousSupport for Ladies Gaelic Football, they meant it. This season marks the fourth year of our hugely successful partnership with Lidl, our National League sponsors and official retail partners. Once again, Lidl is committing to further investment in grassroots level, with over 150 Post-Primary Schools set to benefit. I encourage all members of our Association to get behind this initiative, which will help to provide much needed equipment and materials to our Post-Primary Schools, who are nurturing the future stars of our sport.

“We are hugely enthused by the prospect of seeing even more of the action from the Lidl National Leagues via our Facebook Page, while the addition of LIVE coverage of the Lidl PPS All-Ireland Senior A Final is another exciting development.”

The 2019 Lidl National Leagues get underway next weekend, with a full round of fixtures across all four divisions.

Division 1 champions Dublin begin the defence of their title at Croke Park on Saturday evening (5.0) with a fixture against Donegal that will be televised LIVE on eir sport.

Earlier in the day, Cork host Galway in Mallow while on Sunday in the top flight, 2018 Division 1 runners-up Mayo have home advantage against newly-promoted Tipperary, and Westmeath entertain Monaghan.
