Corbett welcomes Sheedy return

Former Tipperary star Lar Corbett has welcomed the return of Liam Sheedy as manager of the county's senior hurlers.

Speaking ahead of the Amanda Stapleton Benefit Match between Tipperary and Kilkenny next Saturday, at which Liam Sheedy will patrol the Tipperary sideline, Corbett believes his return is timely.

I'm delighted to see Liam back,” he began.

It gave a great lift to Tipperary people when we heard Liam was back in.”

However Corbett proposed a note of caution in terms of the expectation on Sheedy and his players to make an immediate impact.

He added: “We have to put ourselves in Liam Sheedy’s shoes. They’re going to need a bit of time. So I’d ask ye to give them a bit of time and give the players a bit of time to turn it around.

It was a very disappointing year, 2018 for Tipperary and for the supporters. But we’re looking to get it back. You have to remember now, coming into Munster next year, Limerick are going to be a different team. Cork, Clare, they’re stepping up above. You look at the pile, and probably Tipp and Waterford are at the end of the pile. That was evident to see that this year. “So give the guys a bit of time. I think Liam will put good structure in place. I’m looking forward to seeing his structure. I think there will be a bit of buzz about it from the word go. I’m looking forward to the League, to the panel he puts together, the players he puts together. So there’s a bit of excitement in Tipp definitely at that.”
