Seamus Hennessy

Toomevara GAA to host 5k Family Fun for Running for Josie

Toomevara GAA will host a 5K Family Fun Run in support of Seamus Hennessy's Running for Josie project, next Sunday 28th October, starting at 12.30pm.

With registration from 12 noon at the GAA complex, this fundraiser is one of many taking place throughout the country at present to support the efforts of Seamus Hennessy, former Tipperary U21 Munster winning captain and All Ireland Senior winner in 2010 whose aim is to raise €200,000 for Pieta House and Tipperary Living Links.

Seamus has embarked on this fundraiser in memory of his late mother Josie who sadly passed away in 2000 by suicide.

The Run will begin in Toomevara village and follow a 5k looped route, which is suitable for all fitness levels. The club hopes that this will be a wonderful opportunity for all members of our club, community and parish to unite and raise funds for two very important charities. Toomevara GAA would also be delighted and appreciative of support from any of their neighbouring parishes.

The 5K Run/Walk will cost €10 per adult and €5 for 12-18 year olds with a Family price of €20. So if you are free this Sunday please come along and join Aleksandra Mitura and her Zumba team who will set the mood during the warm-up for this fun run/walk.

Many runners have been builing up to this fun run with the Couch to 5k runs every Monday for the last ten weeks in the GAA field which has generated great community spirit while at the same time raising funds for the two vital services.

Following the fun run, Toomevara juvenile hurling and camogie club will also host an afternoon of fun and games for all juvenile players from under 6 to 14 to mark the end of the hurling year for 2018.
