Borrisokane were never able to match the scoring ability of a better balanced Golden Kilfeacle side in a one sided County Intermediate Football semi-final on Saturday.

Perhaps Borrisokane fell between two stools trying to combine hurling and football in recent weeks and off the back of their Intermediate hurling semi-final disappointment the previous week, the effort to sustain both showed.

In addition, Golden Kilfeacle took their opportunities when they fell, clearly illustrated when two Shane O’Connell goals, one at either end of the opening half gave the Westsiders a cushion that kept them out of reach for the remainder of the game.

Borrisokane tried in vain to comeback but were never able to close the gap. The loss of Brian Davis through injury after nineteen minutes was sorely felt but players like Shane Nevin, Gordon Harding and Philip Austin never gave up.

Tipperary star Josh Keane was commander-in-chief for Golden in the middle sector and in Daithi Bargary, Aidan O’Connell at centre back, Shane O’Connell at midfield plus Andy Byrnes and Seanie O’Halloran in attack, the West side had the quality to progress to the final.
