Tipp stars inspire Portroe to North three in a row

Portroe are the North Tipperary Junior 'A' Football champions after a strong second half performance based on an excellent defensive display saw them overcome Newport in the final on Friday night.

While the football might not have been of the highest quality, both teams served up a highly competitive game. At times the game threatened to boil over with several incidents throughout involving a few players from both sides, but never anything that got too out of hand. At times both teams played some good football, even if the final ball was poor and let both times down throughout the game.

The first half was a fairly even affair with Newport maybe just shading it, and probably would have been disappointed to go in at the break level at three points apiece.
